OSEF Exchanges

To apply to the OSEF Exchange program there are several steps.

The deadline to apply to the 2016-2017 program is May 15, 2016.  Earlier applications are strongly encouraged.

  • Download the attached Application Form for U.S. programs.  You will be asked to say some things about yourself, your goals for the exchange, your interests, and preferences.  You should return the Application Form by email.  In acknowledging the receipt, you will be asked to submit a $500 deposit toward the cost of the program via Cashiers Check, wire transfer, or personal check.  This is required to begin processing your preliminary application form. If you do not proceed with the program and notify us less than 60 days prior to departure, $200 of your deposit is non-refundable.

When your form is received and processed, we will send you instructions to submit your deposit.
  • Wire or mail your deposit.

We will send you a "Family File" to fill out, to provide greater depth of information for "matching" you with an exchange family.

  • Send back your completed Family File.
Your file will be submitted to the "matching" process. Your family will receive a schedule of your upcoming trip, insurance information, information for your school (if a School Exchange), custodial documents to provide medical authorization in your host country, and an invitation to a local Orientation Event.
  • You will recieve your "matched" family file for your exchange partner by mail, along with greater depth of information.  Submit your remaining payments, prepare yourself for travel, and get ready for the time of your life!

The cost of both the one-month Summer Exchange and the 9- or 11-week School Exchange is $3800.   Extended payment dates can be agreed upon.

The cost does not include:

  • spending money while away;
  • the cost of your passport;
  • health insurance.

The cost includes:

  • the intelligent and thoughtful selection of your exchange partner family;
